The predecessor to this movie, ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’, was the proud winner of three Golden Raspberry awards, with critics to proclaiming the movie to be “beyond bad… carve[ing] out its own category of god-awfulness.” Regardless, the movie was a box office success; evidently it seems robots, fast cars, and beautiful women provide the perfect enticement for moviegoers.

If the latest trailer is anything to go by, the three magic ingredients return as scenes of robot-fueled demolition are intertwined with slow-motion shots of Sam Witwicky’s (Shia LaBeouf) beautiful new love-interest, Carly Miller (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley).

‘Dark of the Moon’ follows the Autobots as they attempt to recover a Cybertronian spacecraft that smashed into the moon in 1961. The 1969 moon landing is subsequently revealed to be an investigation of the aforementioned craft. The Autobots have to get to the spacecraft before the Decepticons uncover its secrets. Due to be released in Real D 3D and IMAX, giving the movie another dimension to show off its awesome robotic battle sequences, it’s safe to say the third installment of the franchise will continue the tradition of success.

‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ will be released on 29 June, 2011.
