The international trailer for Andrew Niccol’s upcoming sci-fi thriller ‘In Time’ has hit the net offering a revealing insight into the films unique premise.
Most will be familiar with the self-motivating moto, “You’ve got to work hard to play hard.” In the near future, the undisclosed period in which ‘In Time’ is set, this is taken literally. Time is money and those with the most money have the longest to live. Put simply; the rich live forever and the poor die young.
Niccol best outlined the complicated plot line at a recent comic-con appearance; “The good news is that you stop aging at 25 years old. The bad news is that you’re only given one more year to live, so you have to buy time, to earn time.”
The film follows Will Salas, played by Justin Timberlake, who is struggling to earn extra time when he inherits some from a wealthy older gentleman. Unfortunately for Will, the ‘timekeepers’ pursue him, forcing him to go on the run with his wealthy and beautiful hostage Sylvia Weis (Amanda Seyfried).
‘In Time’ hits US theaters on October 28. The UK release date is November 1.
