A new international trailer and some stills were released today for the film ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes.’

The stills feature shots of the monkeys in less than joyful situations. Andy Serkis of ‘Lord of the Rings’ Gollum fame will be lending his voice to one of the creature named “Caesar.” John Lithgow will play “Charles Rodman” who is the older gentlemen in one of the photos with Caesar.

Even though the apes were created with CGI effects, the stills show these apes are almost lifelike.

The trailer shows a progression of the main characters’ (James Franco, Serkis and Lithgow) lives changing after the creation of a super-drug that increases brain activity and helps it repair itself — possibly the cure to Alzheimer’s.

But with almost every advancement in science, there comes some sort of consequence. Also, there is always that one character who just leads a pack of idiotic trouble to create the conflict in a story, and that character is played by ‘Harry Potter’ villain Tom Felton.

The film is set to be released August 5 in the United States.
