It’s easy to forget that Batman is only human. However in a new trailer for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, we are given a stark reminder of the physical tolls of being a superhero without superpowers.

The made-for-TV trailer features Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale)’s doctor giving him the results of a range of tests as he reads off a laundry list of injuries suffered by The Dark Knight.

The doctor is played by Thomas Lennon, former star of comedy television series Reno 911! and a supporting actor in 17 Again.

The humorous trailer offers a glimpse of some of the comedic elements Christoper Nolan brought to the long-awaited film.

To the surprise of fans, the first ever clip from the movie was released alongside this trailer.

The 35-second teaser made its premiere on Jimmy Kimmel‘s late-night talk show yesterday during his interview with Gary Oldman, who plays Gotham City’s Police Commissioner Gordon in the movie.

The clip sees Gordon discussing Batman’s disappearance with Blake; a young police officer and an ally of Batman played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The Dark Knight Rises serves as the final installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, and will open in theatres July 20.
