The first official teaser trailer for the remake of ‘Carrie’ has been released.

It’s a first look at the well-known story from author Stephen King, which was turned into a cult favorite horror movie in 1976. The original was headed by acclaimed director Brian de Palma, and starred Sissy Spacek as the as Carrie, the story’s central figure.

Emerging star Chloë Moretz will played the troubled girl this time around, who discovers she has telekinetic abilities after years of torment by her classmates and her mother.

Moretz has previously played roles in ‘500 Days Of Summer,’ ‘Kick-Ass,’ and ‘Hugo.’ She will also appear in the sequel to ‘Kick-Ass,’ ‘Kick-Ass 2’ next year.

Her abusive and controlling mother will be played by Julianne Moore, who assumes the role originally played by Piper Laurie.

The new theatrical version comes from director Kimberly Peirce, who previously directed ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ and ‘Stop-Loss.’

The new ‘Carrie’ is scheduled for release March 15, 2013.
