For decades fans of the ‘X-Men’ comic books and films have been waiting for fan favorite character Gambit to get his own representation on the big screen. Of course there was the much maligned foray into the character by Taylor Kitsch in the maligned ‘Wolverine: Origins’ but most fans have washed that representation from their mind. Now, all eyes are on Channing Tatum in his starring vehicle for the ‘Gambit’ solo vehicle. While the film has largely vanished from public recognition, in part due to the lack of news, it appears that things are still going forward — and they might actually connect to the larger ‘X-Men’ world.

The ‘Gambit’ solo film was first announced back in 2014 when it was revealed that Channing Tatum would be taking over the character. Since then there have been several big delays and announcements that have made fans question the survival of the actual series. Fox has also been so stacked up with ‘X-Men’ productions that it only made sense the untested ‘Gambit’ film would rightfully take a backseat. Right now production on ‘Deadpool 2’, ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ as well as ‘New Mutants’ is all keeping the studio busy. Still, the film won’t stay on the backburner for too much longer — at least if Tatum has his way.

Channing Tatum revealed this past August that the film was still in action but other details have been few and far between. Fortunately for us there have been enough leaks and reports regarding the script that we actually have some semblance of an idea as to what the film will actually be about. The film starts with Remy Lebeau in New Orleans on trial and then jumps back 25 years into the past. Here we get introduced to Lebeau as a child in order to follow along with his origins at the Thief Guild. From there we begin a time hop that jumps back and forth all over the story.

What is most interesting about the leaked script is that it showcases several well known X-Men characters being utilized. Of these characters fans will recognize Dani Moonstar, Rictor, Fifolet, and Multiple Man. Rumor has it that a famous ‘Blue X-Men’ character will also be featured in the script and fans are already trying to figure out if it will be Nightcrawler, Beast or Mystique. Right now these are just rumors but they are interesting nonetheless.
