Hunger Games screenplay writer Billy Ray has been enlisted for Martin Scorsese‘s Frank Sinatra project.

The film has been in the works for several years, announced as early as 2009; however, it has suffered several setbacks, including the departure of prior screenplay writer Phil Alden Robinson.

Scorsese has reportedly been at work on several Sinatra-influenced projects. In 2000, he was working on a Dean Martin biopic that would have a Sinatra (reportedly to be played by John Travolta) involved in much of the story. There’s no word yet on who would possibly play the famed crooner this time around.

The announcement comes alongside a lengthy list of projects the famed director has already been reportedly involved in, including mob movie The Irishman, based off the novel I Heard You Paint Houses by Charles Brandt; a remake of the 1974 film The Gambler; and an adapted version of Jo Nesbo’s 2010 novel The Snowman.

With all the work on Scorsese’s plate and the general bad luck with the Sinatra piece, any certainty of a release is still up in the air.
