Even though ‘Green Lantern‘ didn’t receive the best reception from critics or at the box office, Warner Bros. Pictures President Jeff Robinov announced this week that they will try again with the film.

Robinov said, “We had a decent opening so we learned there is an audience. To go forward, we need to make it a little edgier and darker with more emphasis on action…. And we have to find a way to balance the time the movie spends in space versus on Earth.”

With well-known actors Ryan Reynolds and Peter Sarsgaard alongside actress Blake Lively proving their talent in other projects, perhaps tighter writing and a unique plot line could relight the “lantern” of hope for the superhero series.

Some critics have suggested that the box office failure of the first film was due to an over focus on 3D and CGI effects, which takes away from what an adaptation of a timeless classic should be. The original ‘Spiderman’ films gained a large audience and praise for its attention to characters and its lack of reliance on computers and new technology.

Time will tell if the ‘Green Lantern’ team can turn minds around on the second try.
