David Cassidy lived a long and fruitful life, enduring a career that spanned his early days as a teen idol and young actor through many years of success on screen and stage. Even so, as the veteran actor lay on his death bed, his thoughts were of his life and he shared some final words of wisdom.
Katie Cassidy Shares Her Father’s Last Words
While David Cassidy may have been best known for his role on the 70s television series, The Partridge Family, it was his real life family who gathered around him. During his final hours, the actor was surrounded by loved ones, including his daughter, Katie Cassidy. Katie is an actress in her own right, most commonly known for playing Laurel Lance, otherwise known as Black Siren, on the hit CW series Arrow. For that reason, she knows better than anyone what life has been like for David.
Katie took to Twitter to share the final words David spoke, when the 67 year old actor passed away on Tuesday.
“My father’s last words were ‘so much wasted time,'” Katie Cassidy tweeted on Friday. “This will be a daily reminder for me to share my gratitude with those I love as to never waste another minute….thank you.”

Ms. Cassidy also shared the warm sentiments her entire family felt at the outpouring of support and love they received, upon David’s passing. The actress said that the prayers and solace offered to her family, as the news of David Cassidy’s passing was released, was a tremendous comfort. The show of support isn’t surprising, considering the love that has developed between David and his fans, over the course of several generations.
Katie Cassidy is the daughter of David and former model and actress, Sherry Williams.
Prior to Mr. Cassidy’s passing, a rep for the actor released a statement on the subject of his failing health. The statement revealed that David Cassidy had been hospitalized for organ failure. It was also announced that the actor was listed in critical condition upon being admitted to the hospital. Although a coma was induced upon being admitted, the rep announced that Mr. Cassidy was conscious and engaged with his family at the time of his passing.
In addition to Katie, David Cassidy is survived by his step-mother Shirley Jones; his son Beau Cassidy; and three step-brothers Ryan, Patrick, and Shaun Cassidy. David’s last television appearance was in a 2013 episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
