As the world of technology evolves and grows exponentially, so does the entertainment industry. Soon it will be very difficult to envision a world without entirely new forms of entertainment. The following article discusses four ways that the industry is already changing, and how this evolution will eventually lead to drastic changes in the future.

1. The end of the traditional television model

One of the most fundamental aspects of entertainment will be the way in which it is received. Already, cable networks have begun to experiment with new ways to deliver television programs, but they are far from over. In twenty years, the TV may be delivered in entirely different ways.

Additionally, televisions will also begin to change. Glasses, such as the Google Glass, are just one of many new technologies that will completely change the means by which we receive information.

2. The increasing use of social media

The way in which people choose to communicate with each other on a global scale has completely changed over the last 10 years. Social media has become a key element of communication, and soon it will play an even more significant role. Already, Facebook has begun to research ways to incorporate virtual reality into the site, in turn changing how people communicate even further.

3. The transformation of gaming

Mobile gaming systems and personal computers are rapidly replacing consoles. Smart phones are allowing users to play games wherever they go, at any time. They can be played while on the road or in bed at night before going to sleep.

Additionally, virtual reality is transforming the gaming industry just as it does for other entertainment forms. VR can be used to experience a number of different worlds, and these places will soon be entirely immersive. Games are no longer limited to just the screen, and in twenty years, they most likely won’t be.

4. 3D printing

A technology that has been developed for over thirty years, 3D printers were first used in the 1980s. They have become increasingly cheaper and more affordable over time. Eventually, they will be just as inexpensive as traditional printing systems. When this happens, they will become much more common in households. People will be able to print nearly anything they want.

Already, 3D printers can be used to create a wide variety of objects and devices. In twenty years, it is likely that a 3D printer will be just as common as a typewriter is today.

In summary, the entertainment industry is changing dramatically. The world of technology, especially, is evolving and growing rapidly. Many of the things that we use now to have fun and enjoy our lives will be completely unrecognizable in twenty years.
