Cuban actress Ana de Armas, who’s starred in movies such as Deep Water, No Time to Die, and Knives Out, has made the rounds in the celebrity sphere in the past several years due to her relationship with Academy Award winner Ben Affleck.

After beginning a relationship sometime in early 2020, the couple ended up splitting apart in September of the same year. Speculation as to why the couple broke up was varied, with the most popular theory being that Armas wanted children, which conflicted with the life goals of a much older Affleck, who already has three children with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.

However, it was recently revealed by Armas in an interview for Variety that a major factor that led to them breaking up was that she found it difficult to handle the stress of their relationship being scrutinized by the public.

As both Armas and Affleck resided in Los Angeles, there was always a heavy paparazzi presence taking pictures of them, trying to ask them intrusive questions while in public, and publishing unfavorable and borderline libelous things about their relationship.

Without much of an outlet or way to rectify the situation, the relationship suffered and Armas in particular was often distraught by this development.

The actress was especially perturbed by the fact that most media attention she received has little to do with her actual career and focused on her personal life, which she always strived to keep out of the limelight.

As Armas has achieved celebrity status in both the United States and Spain, she has a great deal of experience dealing with unwanted attention in her personal life, but found that it took too great a toll on her relationship with Affleck.

Recently, she has moved from Los Angeles to New York City. While her new home still presents a lot of opportunities for intrusion into her personal life by the paparazzi, New York is much more low key by comparison and she finds it easier to be herself.
