Shakira announced yesterday that she is going to be a mom.

The 35-year-old Columbian songstress shared the happy news with fans yesterday on her website.

She wrote: “As some of you may know, Gerard and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby!

“At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days.”

Sounds like she is ready to trade in her famous rock-hard abs for a baby belly.

Shakira was scheduled to perform at the iHeartRadio Music Festival at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino this weekend in Las Vegas, but she canceled her appearance to focus on her pregnancy with her boyfriend Gerard Piqué. Shakira has been in a relationship with Spanish soccer player Piqué since 2010.

The singer is currently working on her eighth studio album and is collaborating with dance producer DJ Afrojack.

The baby announcement comes just after the confirmation that Shakira will joining ‘The Voice’ as a regular coach. It makes sense that she would want a job that would keep her in one place after her baby is born.

Shakira has not announced her due date or details of when she will be back to work.
