Lewis Hamilton has confirmed his split from former Pussycat Doll singer Nicole Scherzinger.

Speaking to PA, the Formula-1 driver revealed that his relationship with the former Pussycat Doll singer had recently come to an end.

Reports say that while split was amicable, it was Hamilton who dumped Scherzinger after the 33-year-old X-Factor judge wanted to start a family immediately.

Despite disagreements, it appears as though the pair will remain friends, with Hamilton saying: “We’re friends at least and we can move forward. It’s never easy going through tough times.”

Rumors have been circulating that the pair have broken up for sometime, however it was only recently that the rumors started to intensify as sources close to the couple began to reveal news of the breakup.

The couple has been dating since November 2007, and after rumors of an engagement earlier in the year, news of the split comes as a surprise to many.

Speaking of the break-up, 26-year-old Hamilton went on to say: “It’s these kind of times that are sent to try you, and it’s about how you pull through them. I’ve my family who are helping, so I feel pretty good… I’m just trying to keep my mind focused on business”.
