Most singers convey feelings through their lyrics, but pop-singer Miley Cyrus has chosen to use another form of self-expression. The 18-year-old recently got a new tattoo to show her support for gay marriage.

The tattoo is an equals sign on the star’s right-hand ring-finger. Last Friday, Miley tweeted a photo of her new ink followed by the words “ALL LOVE is equal.”

The young singer has spoken out in favor of gay marriage before. She also tweeted following the Casey Anthony Trial–“You know the world is skewed when people get away with murdering children but we cant get gay marriage legalized in the state of California.”

Cyrus has received plenty of criticism over the tattoo. Fans have lashed out on Twitter, and the singer has even received death threats. Though she was able to dismiss the comments as a mere difference of opinion, Cyrus admits the threats on her life got to her. Miley told her Twitter followers the threats left her in tears.

This tattoo is the seventh for Cyrus. Others include the word “LOVE” on her ear, a dream-catcher on her ribs, a heart on her right-hand little-finger, a cross on her hand and the phrase “Just Breathe” under her left breast.
