By now, the public is finally beginning to accept that Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander were secretly married, away from the prying lenses of the media. Most of their romance has been kept private, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the celebrity couple chose to wed in private. Even so, Ms. Vikander and Mr. Fassbender are now flaunting their new wedding bands, thrilling fans with visions of the sparkling and meaningful rings.
Michael and Alicia Tied the Knot
While newlyweds Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender may have been secretive about their wedding, the same can’t be said of their celebrations. The couple was seen on Sunday, making merry over the marriage and sporting their new wedding rings. For Michael, a simple gold band now marks him as a married man, but Alicia sports a much more noticeable ring. The Tombraider actress wears a diamond wedding ring to show that she’s now taken.
The Sunday celebration followed the wedding, which took place at La Granja farmstead resort. The ceremony was attended by an intimate selection of family and friends and was planned to ensure paparazzi wouldn’t come crashing the event. Vikander and Fassbender may not have allowed photo ops at their wedding, other than those taken by the official wedding photographer, but there are new images of the couple celebrating on Sunday.
The Light Between Oceans Brought the Newlyweds Together
Filming for 2016’s The Light Between Oceans took two years to complete, giving Alicia plenty of time to get to know Michael. That was the film that first introduced the now 29-year-old actress to Fassbender, who is currently 40 years old. The plot of the drama casts them together as love interests and creates some highly emotional moments between the pair of actors. In fact, shots from the film seem to foretell the eventual real life wedding, blurring the lines between fantasy and reality.
Even so, Alicia and Michael have been very private about their relationship, even from the very beginning.
“I think we’ve made a clear statement that we keep certain things just between us,” Vikander said of her relationship with Fassbender in 2014. “It was very easy to unite, but that’s quite personal.”
Mr. Fassbender was equally candid about his need for privacy. He has previously stated that he won’t consider speaking about his personal life in a public setting without good cause. Like his new bride, Michael prefers to keep his relationships out of the news. That’s reserved strictly for his professional life.
