UK ‘X Factor’ judge Louis Walsh may now relax safe in the knowledge that his reputation remains intact as assault allegations threatened against him last week have been dropped.

British tabloid ‘The Sun‘ reportedly initiated a police inquiry following a report claiming the 54-year-old Irish music manager had sexually assaulted a single father in a Dublin nightclub. Due to their conspicuous involvement, Walsh is considering suing the newspaper.

In a statement Louis said, “I have robustly maintained from the outset that this alleged incident did not occur. While I obviously welcome today’s confirmation from the Garda [Republic of Ireland Police] that the matter has been dropped I remain outraged that this story ran in the first place in ‘The Sun’…I have no intention of letting this matter rest until I have received total and absolute vindication.”

Louis can now take his rightful place as the last original ‘X Factor’ judge still remaining on the UK panel.
