Jennifer Lopez has been given a presenting role that this year’s Oscars.

Producers Brian Grazer and Don Mischer announced the ‘American Idol’ judge as the latest presenter at the 84th annual Academy Awards earlier today.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of the cast of 2011 movie ‘Bridesmaids’ being the first to receive a presenting role at the prestigious award ceremony.

The movie’s leading ladies Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne, Ellie Kemper and Wendi McLendon-Covey will share the honor of presenting an award at the ceremony, which will be held on Sunday, February 26.

42-year-old Lopez, best known as popular vocalist ‘J-Lo’, also has a long list of film credits that saw her included in ‘The Wedding Planner’, ‘The Back-Up Plan’, and ‘Maid in Manhattan’. The singer recently completed work on the latest installment of the Ice Age animated film franchise, ‘Ice Age: Continental Drift’.

The 84th Academy Awards is due to take place on Sunday, February 26, at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, and televised live on ABC. The ceremony will also be televised live in 225 other countries worldwide.
