While most of us spent the holiday noshing on Christmas cookies and ripping wrapping paper off gifts, one certain celebrity had a better idea. Jennifer Lawrence spent the evening of December 24th visiting sick children and their families, spreading holiday cheer with grace and style as only she can.

This is the fifth year in a row the Oscar winning actress has visited the children’s hospital in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. Jennifer Lawrence carries out her Christmas Eve tradition at Norton Children’s Hospital, formerly known as Kosair Children’s Hospital, schmoozing with adorable kids, their parents, and the medical staff, spreading smiles and cheer as she posed for pictures and engaged in conversation with them.

“Louisville’s own Jennifer Lawrence stopped by Norton Children’s Hospital today to visit with patients, families, and staff,” the hospital posted on its Instagram page. “This visit has become a tradition for Lawrence each Christmas. Thank you, Jennifer! You sure do bring a smile to all!”

Norton Children’s Hospital takes pride in being the only full service pediatric care center in Kentucky dedicated exclusively to the needs of children. They provide treatment and services for cancer, heart disease, urology, neurosciences, NICU, pediatric intensive care, burn patients, and orthopedics.

Last year Miss Lawrence donated two million dollars to the facility and announced plans to establish a Jennifer Lawrence Foundation Cardiac Intensive Care Unit in the hospital. The wing will include private rooms for children in intensive care as they recover from heart surgery and other conditions. Fourteen beds will also be added for parents and relatives staying in the hospital to support their little loved one during treatment and recovery.

“As part of my effort to help these children and caregivers,” Lawrence said in a video, “I challenge the entire community to get behind this cause and help match my gift by raising an additional $2 million to support all of these brave and inspiring children.”

Along with spreading Christmas cheer to well-deserving kids, Jennifer Lawrence is best known for her role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games trilogy. The 27-year-old actress has starred in many other movies including Joy, X-Men, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, and Mother. Lawrence has won an Academy Award for best actress, three Golden Globes, seven MTV Movie Awards, and six People’s Choice Awards.

Jennifer Lawrence supports a number of other charitable organizations, along with her own foundation for children and artists.
