Jennifer Hudson performed Whitney Houston‘s ‘I Will Always Love You’ at the Grammys, in tribute to the the star.

Whitney Houston passed away yesterday at the age of 48.

‘I Will Always Love You’, a Dolly Parton cover Houston performed for the soundtrack of her hit 1992 film ‘The Bodyguard’, has become synonymous with the singer, and remains one of her best known songs to date.

Former American Idol star Jennifer Hudson changed the lyrics, ending the song with “Whitney, we love you” before blowing a kiss towards images of grammy award winners who have passed away over the past year.

The performance was a late addition to the show, with Hudson having just hours to rehearse before taking to the stage. Producers at the Grammys have revealed Hudson broke down several times during the rehearsals, and was having “a hard time getting through the song”.

Speaking of Whitney’s tribute at the Grammys, Producer Ken Ehrlich said: “It’s too fresh in everyone’s memory to do more at this time, but we would be remiss if we didn’t recognize Whitney’s remarkable contribution to music.”

Houston’s ex-husband Bobby Brown performed a concert with his band New Edition just hours after hearing news of Houston’s passing yesterday. Half-way through the show, he was forced to leave the stage after breaking down.

Brown was later forced to rush to Los Angeles after hearing that his daughter with Houston, Bobbi Kristina Brown, was admitted to hospital for anxiety and stress.

An autopsy has been carried out on Houston, however the results will be held until Police complete their investigation into her death.
