Academy award winning actress Jennifer Hudson has arrived at a Chicago courtroom to witness the sentencing of William Balfour – the man charged with the 1st degree murder of Jennifer’s mother Darnell Donerson, brother Jason Hudson and seven-year-old nephew Julian King.

In a hearing earlier today Judge Charles Burns denied Balfour’s request for a new trial. Defendants filed a bid for a new trial following Balfour’s conviction of 1st degree murder, home invasion and residential burglary in May.

Balfour now faces life imprisonment, without the possibility of patrol for the murders he committed in October 2008.

It has been said Balfour erupted into a jealous rage after discovering gifts received by Jennifer’s sister, Julia Hudson from a new boyfriend.

Balfour today offered an apology to the family, “My condolences go out to the family. My deepest sympathy goes to Julian King. I loved him. I still love him.”

Prior to the sentencing Jennifer is expected to deliver a victim impact statement, whilst Balfour will have the opportunity to address the judge
