Jennifer Aniston was nearly moved to tears when Chelsea Handler asked her about her engagement to Justin Theroux.
The actress has been reluctant to talk about her newest relationship, with Handler doing most of the talking during Aniston’s ‘Chelsea Lately’ interview.
However, the mere mention of her engagement elicited an strong emotional reaction from the former ‘Friends’ actress. When Handler asked her if she was engaged, Aniston answered with a huge smile and a simple “yes.”
“I’m verklempt,” Aniston said as she scrunched up her face and waved her hands in an attempt to avoid her oncoming tears of joy.
“He’s the greatest guy ever, and you guys make the greatest couple ever, and I’m so happy for you two,” said Aniston pal Handler.
The ‘Chelsea Lately’ interview was the first time that Aniston spoke publicly about her engagement to Theroux. She has been criticized in the past for being too candid about her former husband Brad Pitt‘s relationship with Angelina Jolie. She told Vogue in a 2008 interview, “What Angelina did was very uncool.”
This time around Aniston is playing it cool and keeping her cards close.
Aniston’s five-year marriage to Pitt ended in 2005. Theroux popped the question in August and his rep released a statement to People saying: “Justin Theroux had an amazing birthday on Friday, receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, accepted his proposal of marriage.”
Aniston and Theroux met on the set of the film ‘Wanderlust.’ In addition to their future nuptials, the two both have films in the works. Aniston’s ‘We’re the Millers’ is due out next year and Theroux is scheduled to direct the ‘Zoolander’ sequel.
