Ryan Dunn, one of the stars of the TV show ‘Jackass’, was legally drunk during the car accident that killed him and his passenger, who has been named as Zach Hartwell.
Dunn and Hartwell spent their evening prior to the accident in a Pennsylvania bar drinking before getting into Dunn’s Porsche. The car was traveling at around 130 – 140 mph before crashing into a guardrail and flying into a wooden area where it struck a tree and was engulfed in flames.
Dunn’s blood alcohol level was confirmed to be .196, which is more than twice the legal limit of .08, by the Goshen police department.
The bar where Dunn and Hartwell had their drinks will not face charges from the accident due to the fact that Dunn did not seem visibly drunk, nor did the bartender directly serve him the number of drinks he had that night. Instead, fans and friends purchased drinks for Dunn away from the sight of the bartender on duty.
The two men were only 100 yards away from Hartwell’s West Goshen home when the accident occurred. Mourners have created a makeshift memorial at the site of the accident, which Bam Margera recently visited breaking down in tears over the loss of his friend.
No other drugs were detected in either of the men’s toxicology reports.
