Actress and singer Hilary Duff married Pittsburgh Penguins hockey player Mike Comrie on August 14, 2011. Today, on the couple’s one year anniversary, Duff announced that she is pregnant with their first child.

The singer posted on her website Sunday, “We also want to share the exciting news that … BABY MAKES THREE!!! We are extremely happy and ready to start this new chapter of our lives.”

However, there is speculation the pregnancy was unplanned. Duff told Access Hollywood in May that while she was looking forward to starting a family, she was “tossing around the idea of making another record, and obviously that wouldn’t be very good timing.” She currently has one album out, entitled ‘Metamorphosis.’

Since making the announcement, her website has nearly been shut down due to heavy traffic. Duff’s fans have overwhelmed her with support, and the actress tweeted a “thank you” on Sunday.

As for Hilary’s side-tracked career, she is set to play the role of Bonnie Parker in ‘The Story of Bonnie & Clyde,’ as well as act alongside Charlie Sheen in ‘She Wants Me.’
