Despite his clean-cut image, Harry Potter star, Daniel Radcliff has shocked us all in revealing that he once had a drinking problem. We’re fully aware Harry Potter may sometimes be a little too reliant on the Polyjuice potion, but an alcohol problem…. that’s a revelation.

Speaking to GQ, the twenty-one year old admitted, “I became so reliant on [alcohol] to enjoy stuff. There were a few years there when I was just so enamoured with the idea of living some sort of famous person’s lifestyle that really isn’t suited to me.”

When explained by the actor, the revelation becomes a little less surprising. Radcliff, after all won the part of the wizarding boy wonder at the tender age of nine, he has since lived his teenage years as a world renowned actor who is reportedly worth £48 Million ($77 Million). There’s got to be an element of peer pressure in that lifestyle!

The Harry Potter star quit the drink and became teetotal in August 2010 after the realisation that his drinking had become a problem during the filming of  2009 movie ‘Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.’

His new lifestyle choice has resulted in some positive changes, Radcliff acknowledging, “I’m actually enjoying the fact that I can have a relationship with my girlfriend where I’m really pleasant and I’m not f***ing up totally all the time.”

Radcliff will very soon be jetting off on the Harry Potter premier circuit promoting the final movie in the franchise, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part two’, due for worldwide release July 15th.
