Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong was hospitalized  over the weekend in Bologna, Italy.

The band was scheduled to play at the I-Festival Sunday but had to cancel because of Armstrong’s illness.

No details about Armstrong’s hospitalization have been revealed but band mates Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool posted a video message to fans on Green Day’s website.

In the video, the band gave fans their regrets for canceling the show.

“We apologize profusely,” Dirnt said.” Billy got rushed to the hospital last night due to illness. The doctors don’t think it’s a good idea for him to play today.”

Cool added, “We’re beyond devastated, we’re as sad as you guys are. Billie is extremely upset about it, and we’ll see you very soon.”

Green Day will be releasing three albums in short order, ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré!. The first is due out September 25.
