Just in case you’re not up-to-date, 27-year-old U.K. popstar Cheryl Cole was invited to join FOX’s U.S. version of the hit British television talent show ‘The X-Factor’ as a judge.

However, after just two weeks into the job, judging the auditions in Los Angeles and Chicago, Cole was fired from ‘X-Factor’ U.S. as executives at FOX believed that Americans would not be able to understand the Newcastle, England native’s heavy ‘Geordie’ accent.

The decision was largely met by outrage as Cole’s fans were disgusted that Simon Cowell and FOX would move her to LA only to fire her just a few weeks later. A source told The Mirror Cole is also angry about the move saying, “She was annoyed that when the bad news came, Simon did not even have the guts to tell her himself and left it to another executive.”

Cole was officially replaced on the panel by former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, who was originally set to co-host the show with Welsh TV personality Steve Jones (it is also worth noting he has a very deep Welsh accent).

It will be interesting to see if Americans understand what he has to say.
