A large number of celebrities have shared their New Year’s resolutions with us over the past few weeks.

It’s all part of that annual ritual we all fall into – New Year, New Me. Our annual attempt to turn over a new leaf. Whether your own resolution this year was to lose weight, learn a new language, or get organized, your favorite celebrity can probably relate. They may be rich and famous, but take solace in the fact that celebrities are included in the 78% of people doomed to fail their New Year’s resolutions every year.

We’ve compiled a list of celebrity resolutions from 50 Cent, Adam Levine, Amy Lee, Ashton Kutcher, Common, Jessie J, J.J. Abrams, Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga, Lea Michele, Olivia Wilde, Travie McCoy, and Simon Cowell.

50 Cent

While speaking to MTV News, the rapper admitted there are many areas he’d like to work on in his life, before going on to explain that “I just got to be conscious, more conscious of myself, and try and be a better judge of character with others.”

Adam Levine

The Maroon 5 frontman tweeted a list of potential resolutions, saying: “take more hikes. Start smoking. Communicate. Enjoy. Share. Kill my own food. Make friends with a Lion.” Hopefully he doesn’t try to do that last two at the same time.

Amy Lee

The Evanescence leading lady plans to travel the world this year and meet as many fans as possible, saying: “We’re gonna make it a goal to just go to all those countries where we have fans going, ‘Hey, come to my country. You’ve never been here.’ That’s sort of our goal for next year is to go everywhere and tour all the places we’ve never been and see the world.”

Ashton Kutcher

The ‘Two and a Half Men’ star wants to be more empathetic and generous this year, tweeting: “In 2012 let’s agree to a resolution to feel one another’s pain & joy, & create the peace we desire through proactive generosity. XO.” Not surprising considering Kutcher is one of the most charitable celebrities around, having founded the DNA Foundation with former wife Demi Moore to raise awareness of and help eliminate sex slavery.

Common

This Hip-Hop artist aspires to -even more- greatness, aiming to achieve more in 2012, saying: “I haven’t thought deeply on it, but I would say I just want to be great at everything I do. Greatness.”

Jessie J

Popular house artist Jessie J aims to do the opposite of most people’s New Year’s resolutions – She wants to gain weight! The artist, who will be working with David Guetta on her upcoming album, told fans: “I [want to] to have more fun, gain some weight and I want to make a difference in the world. I’m shaving my head next year for charity… I just want to bring more good [to the world].”

J.J. Abrams

This is a man with a lot of fingers in a lot of pies, and is known by his friends as a workaholic. The prolific *deep breath in* film and television producer, screenwriter, director, actor, and composer… Aims to work less in the new year with one overarching resolution that will have ‘Fringe’ fanboys quaking in their boots: “To stop producing so much stuff!”

Kim Kardashian

It’s been a whirlwind year for Kim Kardashian – Her fame and fortune has skyrocketed, and despite making a resolution in 2011 to stay single for the entire year, her lovelife was left in pieces after she ended up marrying and divorcing Kris Humphries in the space of just 12-months. Understandably, she wants to tone things down for 2012. The [insert Kim’s elusive reason for being famous here] tweeted her fans, saying: “decided to change my twitter background to nothing. i wanna be more simple in 2012.”

Lady Gaga

The pop superstar took to twitter to share her resolution/advice for her little monsters for 2012, saying: “My new years resolution: Never be afraid to be kicked in the teeth. Let the blood and the bruises define your legacy – Lady Gaga 2012”.

Lea Michele

Glee’s sweet songstress aims to take on more challenges this year, telling Contact: “My new year’s resolutions are to keep working, doing things that are challenging, exciting and enjoyable… Maybe that will get me closer to my idols, Natalie Wood or Barbra Streisand.”

Olivia Wilde

This 27-year-old model and writer, perhaps best known as “Thirteen” from House these days, wants to “try to read more novels”, according to Extra!. While she’s spending more time reading, hopefully she’ll find some time to visit RunningLip.com as well.

Travie McCoy

It appears the Gym Class Heroes frontman has a nasty smoking habit, but he’s determined to kick the stick in 2012, saying: “My New Year’s resolution is to quit smoking, it’s a very dirty, filthy habit.

“But not [only] is it my New Year’s resolution to quit, but it’s also my New Year’s resolution to get my friends to quit as well.”

Simon Cowell

It seems the straight talking British X-Factor judge is not a fan of New Year’s resolutions. His New Year’s resolution this year is to never make a New Year’s resolution. When asked if he will be making any resolutions, Cowell said: “Never. You’re never going to keep them.”
