Jay-Z has revealed his wife Beyoncé suffered a miscarriage before the birth of their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.

The rapper bared his soul in a new song released to his Life + Times page. Titled ‘Glory Ft. B.I.C.’, the track is dedicated to his daughter Baby Blue, who was born January 7 in New York City.

In the track Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, raps about the pregnancy struggles he and Beyoncé suffered while trying to have a baby; revealing everything from “False alarms and false starts” to the couples’s miscarriage before Blue Ivy: “last time the miscarriage was so tragic.”

The rapper also reveals where his two-day-old daughter was conceived, rapping: “You was made in Paris” before the track ends to the sound of a baby, many believe to be Blue Ivy Carter (or B.I.C.), crying.

The mellow track makes the father’s love for his newborn child abundantly clear, with lyrics like “Baby I paint the sky blue, my greatest creation was you” and “The most beautifulest thing in this world, she’s daddy’s little girl.”

Blue Ivy Carter is the first child for Beyoncé and Jay-Z, who married in 2008 in a private ceremony in New York. Beyoncé announced her pregnancy to the world in August 2011 by rubbing her baby bump at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles.
