The press have been waiting patiently with baited breath and finally the long awaited moment has arrived. Victoria and David Beckham have announced the birth of their fourth child, and first daughter, Harper Seven, who joins brothers, Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, eight, and Cruz, six. Not long now until the five-aside dream team can become a reality.

Baby Harper was born at 7.55am on the 10th July weighing 7lbs 10oz. She was delivered by elective caesarean Section in Los Angeles, the city the family now call home.

A jubilant David announced baby Harper’s arrival on his Facebook page, “I am so proud and excited to announce the birth of our daughter Harper Seven. She weighed a healthy 7lbs 10oz and arrived at 7.55 this morning, here in LA. Victoria is doing really well and her brothers are delighted to have a baby sister xx”

Although the name Harper may be a tad unusual for us mere mortals, alongside the child’s second name it sits as relatively normal. Less than 48 hours old and Harper Seven has caused an international quandary. Is Seven a reference to her Father’s Manchester United and England Football number or rather does it refer to the fact that she was born during the 7th hour of the 7th month, coincidently also weighing in at 7lbs? We can’t deal with the speculation any longer!

A friend close to the couple told The Daily Mail “Harper is an old English name, something Victoria has always liked. Seven is just a very lucky number and the baby was born just after 7am, in the seventh month.”

Baby Beckham managed to hit headlines even before she was born. Last week a Twitter hoax claimed the couple had welcomed a baby girl named Felicity Beckham on July 4th. David’s publicist, Simon Oliveira, made clear that “contrary to certain reports, David and Victoria Beckham’s baby is not due today and that was never the case.” Although the unoriginal name Felicity was perhaps evidence enough that the rumour was false.

Harper Seven is a welcome addition to the brood. Victoria, last year voiced her hopes of one day having a girl, “Everyone keeps asking me if I would like to have a little girl, and I think, at some point, if I am lucky enough to have another baby that would be great. If I am blessed enough.”
