“Sugar,
Yes, please,
Won’t you come and put it down on me?”

With lyrics like that, it’s safe to say Adam Levine was literally asking for it when a bystander threw a cup of powdered sugar at him.

The Maroon 5 frontman was greeting fans that had been waiting patiently for him outside Jimmy Kimmel’s Hollywood, CA studio when he was hit by a bag of white powder, which was later reported to be powdered sugar.

Pictures and videos of the incident found that way onto social media just minutes later as bystanders captured the entire scene on their phones.

The downside of fame

Levine was shocked by the confectioners attack, and understandably very angry, but he was otherwise unharmed. The attacker, on the other hand, was tackled to the ground by security and detained until the police arrived to arrest him on a single chart of battery. The suspect’s name has yet to be released, but Hollywood police indicate that they ‘know of’ the suspect, which suggests this isn’t the first time he’s pulled a stunt like this.

Levine managed to cleaned himself up just in time of his interview with Jimmy Kimmel. Here’s hoping he marked the occasion with a performance of “Sugar” as well.

Update:

The suspect has been identified by police as 28-year-old Navid Farsi. He is being held on $100,000 bail for the charge of battery against Levine, which is actually his second of this kind. Last month, the wannabe prankster allegedly threw a rock at Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Classy.
