Dallas, Texas, is a booming city with people who are making their mark on the world. With such a diverse and growing population, it’s no wonder that there are so many successful business leaders in the area. This post will introduce you to FOUR of these important Dallasites and what they have done for their communities.

1) Jerry Jones: Owner of the Dallas Cowboys

Jerry Jones is a sports legend. He has been called one of the most successful owners in all of the sports, but he has done much more for his team and fans than win games. In 1990 when it was time to build their new practice facility, Mr. Jones took on 100% of the cost. The new facility included a pool, weight room, and cafeteria for the players, all at no expense to the team’s budget. Not only did he finance this on his credit card, but he also paid off more than $200 million in debt himself rather than pass that along to fans or taxpayers by asking for public financing of it.

2) Mark Cuban: Owner of the Dallas Mavericks

Mark Cuban is one of the most active owners of professional sports. He can be seen sitting near center court at all Mavs home games, but he also takes an active role with his team and their fans off the court as well. His purchase of a majority share in 2011 helped to re-energize the team and their fan base, but he also reinvigorated his love for basketball by purchasing the Dallas Mavericks Dancers. Cuban had said that this purchase was perhaps one of his most valuable because it brought him back to what made him fall in love with the game when he first started as a player himself; teamwork and hard work.

3) Barbara Corcoran: Real Estate Investor & TV Personality

Real estate investor and Shark Tank star Barbara Corcoran is a self-made woman. After being fired from her job as a real estate agent in the 1970s, she made it her mission to prove that women were just as capable as men when closing deals. In her book, “If You Don’t Have Big Breasts, Put Ribbons on Your Pigtails,” she tells the story of how she went from being a receptionist in New York City to owning her real estate empire.

4) Phil Romano: Founder of Fuddruckers

Phil Romano is a restaurateur and food lover who has been in the business for more than 50 years. Having started his career as a dishwasher, he went on to own 25 restaurants by 1974 when he decided to give it all up and sell everything off. Even more astounding was that he did this at the age of 32, without any money or job lined up. But Phil’s success didn’t end there; in 1980, he founded Fuddruckers and has since grown it to more than 130 locations worldwide.
