Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z have welcomed their first child into the world – Baby Girl Blue Ivy Carter.

The 30-year-old singer gave birth by caesarian section in the early hours of this morning at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, with 42-year-old rapper Jay-Z by her side.

A source close to the couple told the Houston Chronicle that ‘mother and baby are doing fine’.

The couple booked out the entire fourth floor of the hospital, costing them $1.3 Million, to ensure their privacy and security. Beyoncé also checked into the hospital under the false name Ingrid Jackson, while hospital workers were forced to give up their mobile phones when the couple entered the hospital.

Fans of the singer have been patiently waiting for the birth of Baby Blue ever since she announced her pregnancy at the MTV Video Music Awards last year.

The former Destiny’s Child faced rumors she was ‘faking’ her pregnancy after critics claimed her baby bump folded in during an interview, suggesting she was wearing a prosthetic. The singer quickly rebuffed the rumors as ‘foolish’.

Friends of the couple have sent their congratulations via twitter, with close friend Gwyneth Paltrow tweeting: “Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already”. Rihanna also tweeted: “Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih”, with Russell Simmons adding: “congrats to my good friends Beyoncé and Jay-Z”.

The couple, who are said to be worth $750 Million, are expected to personally confirm the birth tomorrow.

Congratulations to the couple! But it looks like Jay-Z has 100 problems now…
