Is Taylor Swift shaming overweight people? Reports are hitting the airwaves that producers or the powers that be removed one particular scene from Swift’s latest video. “Anti-Hero” is the name of Swift’s current hit, and in the video, there is a scene with her stepping onto a bathroom scale. After we watch her step onto it, the camera angle changes. The next scene is a bathroom scale showing the words fat in place of the numbers.

There are two renditions of the video floating around the internet. The curious can still catch the original version on YouTube, and various internet sites have also clipped out images of the original and new production.

The remastered video does not show the fat scale. Instead, the camera zooms to Taylor’s face, and she appears to have a look of sadness, disgust, or disappointment. For now, it is up to the individual viewer to decide what she is thinking because Taylor Swift nor the production company have commented on the switch.

Speculators think the move was to eliminate any reference to obesity. Fans have been drumming up all kinds of ideas through online forums, chat rooms, and social sites. Some are negative, and some take a positive spin.

From the positive camps, most commentators and posters believe that Taylor merely plays out a scene that matches the lyrics. The song mentions monsters and sexy bodies.

Swift has publicly stated that she has had eating issues. In a Netflix movie, Swift discussed her disorder, but she noted it was something that happened infrequently. She would stop eating when she thought she was gaining weight or losing control of her body. This pattern was her coping mechanism. She does not support this type of behavior, and she stated that it was not something she was proud of doing.

The Netflix interview revealed many of Swift’s past problems. She shared her feelings about food as a reward and her developing relationship with health.

Fans continue to support her actions and messages, and her Netflix confessions did not appear to alienate her base. You can catch the updated video from Swift’s “Midnights” album on Apple Music.
