Introducing: The Running Lip Social Reader

The Running Lip Social Reader is a new social reading experience from Running Lip aimed at helping our readers express who they are, what they’re interested in, and what’s important to them on Facebook.

To start using the Social Reader, click the ‘Login with Facebook’ button. This will authenticate the social reader with your Facebook profile, allowing you to automatically share articles you read on Running Lip with your friends on Facebook, and see what they are reading. (Remember, you are always in control of what you share, and you can turn sharing off or delete past shares at any time.)

How does it work?

By clicking the ‘Log in with Facebook’ button, which appears to the right of most articles on the Running Lip website, a connection is established between Running Lip and Facebook, allowing the RL Social Reader to post articles you’ve read on Running Lip to your Facebook Profile for you and your friends to see and interact with. After logging in you will immediately be able to see Running Lip articles that have been popular with your friends and other Facebook users.

The Running Lip Social Reader may not work in some older browsers such as Internet Explorer 7; though if you are using an old browser you should really upgrade for your own security. For the best experience with the Running Lip Social Reader, we recommend Google Chrome.

How can I control what’s shared and with whom?

You are always in control of what you share through the Running Lip Social Reader. You may turn ‘Social Sharing’ on or off at any time. When it’s off, none of the articles you read will be shared with your friends on Facebook, and it will stay that way until you decide to turn it back on.

You can also remove individual articles from your archive of read articles. To do this, click the ‘Your Activity’ link and click the red cross next to article you want to remove from your Facebook profile. Your reading activity is maintained by Facebook, and is not and never will be stored by Running Lip.

Please also note that your Social Sharing settings are stored in your web browser. If you clear your cookies or use a different browser, you may need to re-select your social sharing status.

Also remember that you can always check and edit your privacy settings on Facebook here.

How do I opt out?

You are free to opt out of the Running Lip Social Reader at any time. Simply visit your Facebook application privacy settings page and remove the ‘Running Lip’ App (Here’s a link to the Facebook App Settings page). If you ever want to use the Running Lip Social Reader again, simply click the Log in with Facebook Button again and we’d be happy to have you back.
